Health Recovery Solutions (HRS), a telehealth and remote patient software company, hosted its inaugural Telehealth Advancement Conference this past week. The Conference focused on facilitating the spread telehealth best practices, maximizing cost savings, and the future of telehealth reimbursement.
The Conference brought together over 160 innovators from across the healthcare industry including insurers, home care providers, and several of the largest health systems in the US. The Conference's curated group represented thought-leaders from the tech and healthcare industries with Executives and Telehealth Program Directors accounting for 65 percent of all attendees.
Presentations featured experts in home care, healthcare policy and reimbursement, and behavioral health. MaineHealth Care at Home's President and CEO, Donna DeBlois, opened the conference Friday morning with a presentation on providing high-quality, cost-effective care through the creation of clinical protocols and telehealth.
The presentations continued with Anne Carle, Telehealth Clinical Coordinator at Cornerstone VNA, presenting on the benefits of video conferencing. Anne is a two-time Telehealth Honors award winner and frequently write articles on the HRS blog on Cornerstone's telehealth program. Anne and her team at Cornerstone frequently use video conferencing to introduce patients to the telehealth program, check patient wounds, and teach patients how to use biometric monitoring devices and inhaler.
Several HRS partners presented case studies around their programs' unique applications of telehealth and remote patient monitoring. Dr. Maria Roche Dean of Nascentia Health presented a case study highlighting Nascentia's postpartum program and the efficacy of using telehealth for behavioral health care management.
Mary Hagen of Henry Ford Health System and Rosalie Buergler of St. Luke's Health System each presented case studies on their respective organization's EMR integrations. The presentations demonstrated the advantages of interoperability and the creation of a care continuum in reducing hospital readmissions, promoting clinician coordination, and improving quality of care.
In addition, HRS' Vice President on Business Development, Richard Curry moderated a panel to answer attendee questions on a broad range of topics. Senior Policy Analyst at Sachs Policy Group, Jonathan Halvorson, provided expert knowledge on recent and upcoming CMS reimbursement changes for telehealth and remote patient monitoring. As well, Lisa Hogan of Frederick Memorial Hospital (FMH) and Ronnesa Richards of Holland Hospital answered questions of clinician workflow and the impacts of moving home care to PDGM. Both FMH and Holland Hospital have achieved 30-day hospital readmission rates below seven percent.
HRS CEO, CTO, and Lead Data Scientist, Jarrett Bauer, Dan Priece, and Sophie Geoghan, respectively, closed the conference announcing HRS' 2019 and 2020 product roadmap. Key announcements included HRS' plans to further expand their EMR integrations (HRS currently 7 EMR integrations) and add Eko Duo, a spirometer, and continuous glucose monitoring to it's suite of peripherals.
Additionally, HRS announced a move to build out predictive risk modeling and a business intelligence dashboard. HRS' predicative analytics platform would consist of a daily predictive risk modelling report that would allow clinicians to better forecast patient health status; as well, the Business Intelligence Dashboard would track real-time analytics and data to provide HRS partners with insight into program efficiency and ROI.
Following the Conference's success, HRS has begun preparing for next year's Telehealth Advancement Conference in New York City on April 23rd through April 24th.
